Latimer said: “This measure is intended to serve dual purposes. First, the waiving of civil service examination fees is a real benefit the men and women who have bravely fought to protect the freedoms will all enjoy. Second, by waiving these fees we hope to encourage more veterans to join our County’s workforce – bringing their invaluable life experience and sense of service on behalf of others.”
According to New York State Law, local governments are authorized to establish a uniform schedule of reasonable fees for the administration of civil service examinations.
Veterans Service Agency Director Ron Tocci said: “Both this ceremony and the signing of this legislation are two of the many ways our County honors our veterans. Each day, my office looks to help those who have served and find new ways – like this new law – to provide that needed assistance.”
