Insider News Center: From Westchester Insider: Westchester County Legislator James Nolan 15th District: Facing Utility Price Spikes? Here’s How to File a Complaint.

Have You Had Problems With Your Electric Bill?

Have Your Meter Numbers Been Strange or
Estimated for Months in a Row, or Have Your Bills Been Delayed?

File a PSC Complaint.

At the Board of Legislators, we are very concerned about the impact of spiking utility bills on County residents.  Our Environment, Energy & Climate Committee has been investigating this issue and has prepared letters of complaint to the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC), which regulates the utilities. For the PSC to grasp the full scope of the problem, however, it is also important for residents who have been impacted to file complaints directly with the PSC.

This includes residents hit by:

  • Bad meter readings
  • Meter problems, especially accounts where meter numbers were estimated for months in a row or estimated readings were very low, leading to catch up bills
  • Customers facing high "catch-up" adjustment bills, including those with large adjustments after billing delays
  • NYSEG customers with day/night meters seeing extreme increases
  • Customers in community solar programs with delayed billing, or billing missing detail
